E-Stim in Tustin
Many chiropractic offices offer electrical stimulation (e-stim) as part of their care plans—but very few offer all of the different types of this therapeutic modality.
Our Approach
We begin with a thorough examination, including X-rays if needed. Based on your situation and goals, Dr. Azizi will create a customized care plan for you. If e-stim can benefit you, he will include it in his recommendations.

How It Helps
This therapy works by applying a safe level of electrical current at specific frequencies to promote healing. Different types of stim are appropriate for different conditions:
Russian Stim
This method activates muscles to contract. It’s a way to work out and strengthen a muscle, even if that area is currently immobilized (as with a fracture). This can help ensure you don’t lose muscle strength and conditioning while waiting for the fracture to heal.
Interferential Current
This type stimulates deep nerve synapses, promoting pain relief. It’s often used for muscle spasms or other painful conditions.
Biphasic Stim
This is another method that can help strengthen muscles and provide neuromuscular reeducation to ensure that your muscles can move in a healthy fashion.
All forms of stim are helpful in reducing swelling and increasing blood flow to the affected area to promote healing.
What to Expect
The therapy is not painful, and you won’t experience an electrical shock. You will feel a slight tingling sensation where the electrodes are placed. For athletes or others using Russian stim to exercise muscles, the session will typically last 15-20 minutes. The sessions are a bit shorter for patients coming in for pain relief and healing—about 10-15 minutes.
The electrodes are placed on your skin, so please wear clothing that allows us access to the area of your body that we’ll be working on (shorts, tank tops, and loose-fitting tees are good choices).
